DC One Million, the crossover event DC launched in 1998, was conceived and spearheaded by Grant Morrison. The story is set in the 853rd century—DC imagined that if it kept publishing at its existing pace, its one-millionth issue would fall in that era—so in this century the descendants and successors of the superheroes form the Justice Legion, guarding a solar system terraformed for habitation. To welcome the return of the original Superman, who has been in seclusion inside the sun for over ten thousand years, the future heroes travel through time to invite the 20th-century Justice League to witness the moment. But something goes wrong in transit: Solaris, the "Tyrant Sun" once defeated, was never fully destroyed; lurking in a rift in time, it seizes the chance to release a virus that throws machines and people alike into chaos, and the immortal Vandal Savage also makes his move. The future and present generations of heroes are separated across two eras, each dealing with the crisis. This volume is the first Chinese installment of the series, collecting the opening of the main storyline and laying out the wondrous world of the 853rd century and this millennium-spanning conspiracy. Grounded in time travel, legacy and the continuation of the "hero myth," the story is a concentrated expression of Morrison's grand imagination and romanticism, often seen as a companion piece to All-Star Superman.
