About the author
Margaret E. Sangster (born 1894) was an American writer active in the twentieth century. Little is known about her life, and publicly available information about her is limited. Two of her works are held in this collection, Cross Roads and The Island of Faith. Judging by their titles, her writing touches on themes such as life's choices and faith, with a plain narrative style and a concern for moral reflection. Because biographical and scholarly materials on her are scarce, details of her education, her writing career, and the contemporary reception of her works are difficult to verify, and readers and scholars chiefly know her through these two books. Overall, she belongs to the group of twentieth-century American writers about whom relatively little documentation survives, and her works remain the main basis for understanding her writing.
