About the author
Amédée Guillemin (1826–1893) was a French writer of popular science. He devoted himself to scientific writing for general readers, introducing astronomy and physics in works such as Cosmografía. His writing sought to turn specialized scientific material into readable narrative, clear enough for beginners to follow, and his books therefore circulated widely among popular science publications of his time. Because public information is limited, details of his life, education, and positions remain unclear; only one of his works is currently held in the collection, and knowledge of him rests mainly on the subject matter and reach of this representative work.
