Bootstrap in Action

This is a hands-on book on Bootstrap, written for Bootstrap 3. After a brief introduction to downloading, installing, and basic configuration of Bootstrap, it moves straight into project practice, systematically explaining Bootstrap's grid, components, JavaScript plugins, and LESS customization through five real-world site cases of different types. The five cases progress from easy to advanced: a personal portfolio site (with a full-width carousel, three-column text layout, and Font Awesome icons), a WordPress theme (turning the portfolio site into a theme with the help of the Roots starter theme), a corporate website (complex header, dropdown menus, three-column body, and four-column footer, fully responsive), an e-commerce site (product showcase pages, multi-row product control within a complex responsive grid, and responsive filtering tools), and a single-page marketing site (large welcome headline, icon feature list, image-wall testimonials, and a pricing table, with dynamic scroll navigation). Beyond the cases, the book introduces the fundamentals and use of LESS, HTML5 Boilerplate, Respond.js, Masonry, Scroll-Spy, and other practical plugins and frameworks, as well as front-end development workflows; the appendix covers site resource optimization, responsive images, and carousel gestures. The project code provided by the author is split into start and finish folders by chapter for easy side-by-side practice. The book suits developers and enthusiasts with some HTML and CSS foundation.
