About the author
Ethel Cook Eliot (1890–1972) was an author of English-language children's literature and fantasy stories, about whom publicly available information in Chinese remains limited. Three of her works are held in this collection: The Little House in the Fairy Wood, Green Doors, and Ariel Dances. Judging by their titles and themes, they centre on fairy-tale forests, secret worlds behind doors, and fairy dances, carrying a distinct folk-tale atmosphere. Her writing often features children or young protagonists and creates a gentle, imaginative narrative mood by interweaving everyday settings with fantasy. Although little is recorded about her life, nationality, or writing career, these works offer a sidelight on early twentieth-century English-language children's fantasy.
