Android from Beginner to Master

Written by the Mingri Science and Technology team, this book is one volume in Tsinghua University Press's "Software Development Video Lecture Hall" series. It is aimed at readers with no background or only a little programming experience and systematically explains the knowledge and skills needed for Android application development. The book has 15 chapters organized into three parts—Fundamentals, Advanced Topics, and a Project in Practice. The Fundamentals part begins with an overview of the Android platform and setting up the development environment, then introduces emulators and common commands, user interface design, advanced user interface design, the basic program unit Activity, Android's core Intent, Android event handling, and resource access, helping readers first get their first app running and then gradually master interface layouts and component interaction. The Advanced part further covers graphics and image processing, multimedia application development, Content Provider data sharing, threads and message handling, Service applications, network programming, and Internet applications, covering the mainstream technology of Android development at the time. The Project in Practice part uses "Family Finance Manager" as an example, demonstrating the complete development of a small-to-medium application from requirements analysis through feature implementation to packaging and delivery. Every knowledge point is accompanied by concrete examples, and the code carries detailed comments; the accompanying disc also provides 25 hours of audio-video instruction in 62 segments, 600 pages of technical reference documentation, 436 classic examples, 369 real interview questions, 138 aptitude test questions, and PPT teaching slides, making it easy to learn while practicing and to look things up while practicing. As an introductory book for beginners, it is clearly structured and carefully explained, suitable for self-study and as a teaching reference for relevant university courses. Note that its content is based on early Android SDKs and the Eclipse development environment, which differs considerably from today's Android Studio and Jetpack ecosystem.
