Gong Juzhong is an ancient physician whose name appears in Chinese medical literature; public information about him is limited, and his dates of birth and death, native place, and nationality are unknown. The four works recorded here focus on internal medicine and on phlegm-fire disorders. Tan Huo Dian Xue is devoted to consumptive phlegm-fire, discussing deficiency, cough, and hemoptysis together with prescriptions and methods of care, while the comprehensive internal medicine work Neike Baixiao Quanshu survives in a collated edition that is accessible to modern readers. One is specialized and the other broad, showing that he attended both to close study of particular disorders and to systematic organization of common internal medicine conditions. His writing is clinically practical, clearly organized, and pairs formulas with patterns, making it useful for reference and study. Though few works remain, they reflect his editorial contribution to the discussion of internal medicine and consumptive disease in traditional Chinese medicine and offer a useful reference for understanding the treatment of phlegm-fire patterns and the transmission of internal medicine knowledge in earlier times.
