About the author

Huang Hui, originally named Huang Yaohui, was born in Shehong, Sichuan, in 1928 and is a military writer from Taiwan, China. A graduate of the Taiwan Military Academy, he served in the military before retiring and becoming the publisher of Rainbow Press, devoting himself over the long term to literary creation and publishing. He is chiefly known for his novels, including Zhui, The Female Teacher, Love in the Fog, and The Gentle Spring Breeze, thirty-six in total, as well as more than fifty works of essays and memoirs; his books were bestsellers for over thirty years. In 2008 he settled in Shehong, where a showcase of his works was established. The library also holds three works credited to Huang Hui—a collated edition of the medical classic Bencao Beiyao, a study of insider-trading law, and a book on accident emergency response and first aid—spanning medicine, law, and examinations; whether their author is the same person as the military writer awaits verification, as public information is limited.
