About the author

Huang Hai (born 1943), whose real name is Huang Binghuang and whose pen name is Ling Xiaozi, is a native of Taichung, Taiwan, and a graduate of the Department of History at National Taiwan Normal University. He once worked as an editor at United Daily News and as editor-in-chief of Science Children's Weekly, and after retirement taught as a lecturer at Shih Hsin University and Providence University. He is best known for his long-standing science fiction writing, with representative works including Galaxy Odyssey, Earth Escape, and Chang'e City; he is the only writer in Taiwan to have won both the National Award for Arts and the Zhongshan Literature and Art Award for science fiction. Five of his works are included in the collection, spanning politics, programming and design, design, essays and miscellaneous writings, and biography, such as Gray Land: A Study of "Hooligans" in Hongzhen (1981–2007), Basic iOS Development Tutorial, Modern Lighting Design, Childhood Memories: Sweet Potato Complex and the McDonald's Temptation, and Biographies of Famous World War II Generals (six volumes), showing that his writing interests are not confined to a single field.
