About the author

Huang Ping was born in Chengdu, Sichuan, in 1958. He holds a doctorate in sociology from the London School of Economics and is a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He has served as deputy director of the CASS Institute of Sociology and as director of its Institute of American Studies and Institute of European Studies, and is now executive vice president of the Hong Kong Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His research covers social development, globalization and the Chinese path, and China-US and China-EU relations. Three of his works are included here, spanning medicine, management and social observation: a volume on internal medicine in the Zhejiang school of Chinese medicine, a practical guide to process-controlled key-account marketing, and a collection of "Belt and Road" visit notes on foreign students' return-home experiences. Moving from academic research to professional practice and cross-cultural reportage, his writing grounds specialized topics in concrete experience and practical detail.
