About the author

Huang Yuanqi, born in 1981, is a Chinese writer, global traveler, and photographer, and a member of the Shanghai Writers Association. Having visited more than forty countries, she has long devoted herself to travel literature and cultural prose, and is known for recording her journeys in a graceful, literary style that blends sensory experience on the road with reflections on history and culture. Her work spans travel, festival culture, and Silk Road history. Her representative books include Your Journey Must Have Some Flavor, Joy Through the Seasons: The Four Seasons in Traditional Chinese Festivals, and Sand and Sea: A Thousand Years and a New Beginning on the Ancient Silk Road. These works approach, respectively, travel observations, the seasonal customs of traditional Chinese festivals, and the millennia of change along the ancient Silk Road, combining personal experience with cultural context in essayistic narration and showing a convergence of historical reading and cultural prose. Public information is limited, and no systematic account of her early life or the origins of her writing is currently available.
