Public information about Jin Fei is currently limited. It is known that the Chinese book database holds one work under this name, Nantong Notes. Judging from the title and its usual classification, the book belongs to the category of essays and miscellaneous writings, and its content likely concerns the city of Nantong—its people, places, and local scenes—written in the manner of informal notes. Jin Fei's writing appears to favor close observation and unhurried narration in recording the human and everyday life of a place, blending personal travel with local memory in prose form. Because details of biography, nationality, and dates of birth and death are not clearly recorded, a full picture of the author's output and stylistic development cannot yet be drawn; only a preliminary understanding based on the existing work is possible. For readers wishing to approach Nantong's local character through prose, Nantong Notes offers an accessible point of entry.
