About the author

Tao Wuxian was born in August 1948 in Shehong, Sichuan. He served as Secretary of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, Chairman of the Tenth Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Deputy Director of the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the Twelfth National Committee of the CPPCC. Beyond his administrative work, he has long written for personal cultivation. Three of his works are included here: Leisure Verses, Miscellaneous Writings from Reverent Thought, and A Small Collection of Couplets; he is also the author of Humble Discussions on Seeking Truth. His writing spans classical poetry, miscellaneous prose, and literary appreciation. His old-style verses and couplets often convey a leisurely temperament, while his miscellaneous prose tends toward random notes and reflections, with a plain and unhurried style reminiscent of traditional literati notebooks. Public information about his creative career and literary circles is limited, and readers can mainly come to know his writing through the works mentioned above.
