About the author

Chen Daojing is a Japanese-language translator. Born in Kunshan, Jiangsu, Chen holds a Master of Arts in Japanese from Nanjing Normal University and studied on a government-sponsored program at Tokyo Gakugei University and Kanto Gakuin University in Japan. Chen has long worked as a Japanese and English interpreter and translator, and three of Chen's works are included in this catalog. Published translations include Ryunosuke Akutagawa's The Puppeteer, Shunichiro Kanaya's A History of Japan from Waseda, and Shoichi Fujii's Lu Xun and Wine Culture: Modern and Contemporary China in the Fragrance of Wine, the latter two translated jointly with Lin Minjie. The translations span foreign literature, essays and miscellaneous writings, and world history, ranging from Akutagawa's literary imagination to a Japanese scholar's accessible account of that country's history and a wine-centered study of modern and contemporary Chinese culture. Public information about the translator's personal life is limited, and the available details center on the translation work and the translated titles.
