Chen An

Chen An was born in Qidong, Jiangsu, in 1942 and moved to the United States in 1980; he is an American citizen. A graduate of the Russian Department of Shanghai International Studies University, he later earned a master's degree in library science from Columbia University. He has worked as an editor in the International Department of China Central Television, a translator and editor for the daily newspaper Meizhou Huaqiao Ribao, and a librarian at the East Asian Library of Columbia University. As a writer and translator, his works include In Search of Owls, Hurried New York, American Intellectuals, The Artist's Soul, The Road to the White House, and Cello Voices of the Twentieth Century, while his translations include The Brooklyn Follies, World's Fair, and The Plot Against America. His books span foreign literature, law, classics, and finance, with fourteen titles held in the collection.
