Chen Liang

Chen Liang (1143–1194), originally named Chen Runeng, courtesy name Tongfu, styled Longchuan and known as Mr. Longchuan, was a native of Yongkang in Wuzhou (present-day Yongkang, Zhejiang). A Southern Song thinker and man of letters, he founded the Yongkang School. He advocated practical statecraft for the benefit of the people and firmly supported resistance against the Jin; his debate with Zhu Xi over the kingly versus the hegemonic and righteousness versus profit is well known. His ci poetry is bold and unconstrained, and he is regarded as a representative of the heroic style. His works include the Longchuan Collected Works, Longchuan Ci, Deliberations on Antiquity, and Five Discourses on Restoration. This site lists 14 related titles under his name, spanning classics, medicine, literary appreciation, management, modern poetry, and computer science, from poetry-contest guides to practical topics such as kidney dialysis, hotel operations, crowdfunding, and Windows server maintenance.
