钱春绮

Qian Chunqi is a Chinese translator known for rendering Western literary and philosophical classics into Chinese. Public information about him is limited, and details of his life are rarely recorded. Judging from the eight works held in the collection, his translations follow two main threads. One is Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du mal and Le Spleen de Paris, which brought the decadent beauty and urban melancholy of French Symbolist poetry to Chinese readers. The other is multiple versions of Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra, including an annotated edition, indicating that he paid attention to notes and interpretive support when translating philosophical texts. He also translated Goethe's Faust and took part in compiling literary anthologies such as I Want to Be Someone Who Can Describe Your Life at Your Funeral 4. His translations are often classified under literature, philosophical reading, Eastern philosophy, Western philosophy, and foreign literature, and they have had a lasting influence on the dissemination of Western classics in the Chinese-speaking world.
