Jin Bo

Jin Bo, whose original name is Wang Jinbo, was born in Beijing in July 1935. He is a children's literature writer and poet, and a professor at Capital Normal University. He began writing during his university years and has published the poetry collection Let's Go See the Sea and the fairy tale The Adventures of Wu Diu Diu, among other works; many of his pieces have been included in primary and secondary school Chinese textbooks. He was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1992 and received the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award as Writer of the Year in 2014. His work is best known for children's poetry and the compilation of nursery rhymes. The Jin Bo Children's Poetry Selections in the library revolve around natural images such as butterflies, red dragonflies, and birds, with simple, rhythmic language that speaks to children's sensibilities. The Traditional Chinese Nursery Rhymes series is arranged by themes such as childlike fun, nature, and humor, reflecting his regard for folk verse traditions, while Jin Bo's Secrets of Writing Poetry shares his experience of poetic composition. His writing balances literary quality with readability and has had a broad influence on early poetry education and parent-child reading.
