Public information about Xie Lizhong is limited, and his academic writing centers mainly on sociological theory. Five of his works are included here, among them the two volumes of Western Sociological Theory and The Logic of Western Sociological Theory, which systematically trace the development and internal logic of Western sociological theory. The other two, The Construction of Sociological Knowledge: Explorations in Post-Western Sociology and Social Theory: Reflection and Reconstruction, address respectively the formation of sociological knowledge in a post-Western context and the rethinking and rebuilding of social theory. These works fall mainly under social science and social culture, with some also classified for examination use. Overall they display a strongly theoretical and scholarly character and are suited to sociology students and researchers in theory.
