About the author

Bo Zhenjie is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Maritime University, long engaged in the study and translation of foreign literature. Public information about him is limited, and his academic profile is mainly reflected through his translation practice. He directed the translation of the seven-volume Collected Short Stories of W. Somerset Maugham and served as principal translator of its first volume, Rain, offering a fairly complete rendering of Maugham's language and narrative manner in the short-story form. He also took part in directing the translation of the Henry James novels series, of which Selected Short Stories of Henry James, Volume 1, is included in the library. These translations, all classified as foreign literature, show his sustained commitment to introducing classic English and American short fiction, with versions that balance fidelity to the originals with readability in Chinese and provide reliable texts for Chinese readers seeking to understand the short-story art of Maugham and Henry James.
