About the author

Jiang Hong is an author about whom little public information is available; what can be confirmed is chiefly a body of work on world history and historical reading. Four of the author's titles are held in the collection, all focused on dynastic politics, diplomacy and military history in early modern Britain and Russia. They include The Wars of the Roses, Henry VII and the Rise of the Tudor Dynasty; Tsar Peter III: Political Crisis, Court Coup and the Coming of the Age of Catherine the Great; A History of the Royal Navy; and A History of British Diplomacy: From the Tudor Dynasty to the Hanoverians, several of them in the Huawen Global History series. The writing takes specific figures and events as its thread, tracing dynastic change, court power struggles and institutional development, balancing readable narrative with historical fact for general readers interested in modern European history, and forming a fairly concentrated subject area within Chinese popular works on world history.
