Ai Qing

Ai Qing (1910–1996), originally named Jiang Zhenghan and known by the courtesy name Haicheng, was a native of Jinhua, Zhejiang, and a renowned modern Chinese poet. He went to France in his early years to study painting, and after returning to China in 1932 devoted himself to poetry. His representative works include "Dayanhe—My Nurse," "I Love This Land," "Toward the Sun," and "The Notice of Dawn." He served as vice chairman of the Chinese Writers Association. His poems are marked by deep feeling, clear imagery, and plain yet moving language, often expressing his attachment to the land and the people. The library holds six of his works, spanning modern poetry, prose, cultural writing, and reading assessments, which shows that beyond poetry he also left prose achievements and continues to resonate in cultural reading and reading promotion.
