胡烨

Hu Ye is an author about whom little public information is available. Seven of his works are known, spanning foreign literature, military history, and documentary writing. On the literary side, he has contributed to the translation or compilation of works including The Human Province: Canetti's Notebooks 1942–1985, bringing the notebooks of the German-language writer Elias Canetti to Chinese readers. Military and documentary writing is his more concentrated field: he has written on the Pacific theater of World War II in The Pacific War: The Bougainville Campaign and The Pacific War: The Battle of Munda, on the Western Front of World War I in Blood Soaking the Somme, and on Cold War regional conflicts in The Refreezing Glacier: The India-Pakistan War of 1965 and The Vietnam War Quintet. Myth, Lies and Miracles: The Bloody Battle of Khe Sanh further reflects his interest in campaign detail and the critical use of historical sources. Overall, his writing is distinguished by battle narrative and historical documentation.
