About the author

Hu Dongpei, female, born in 1960, is a professor and MD in the Department of Basic Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and an academic leader of a key discipline under the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has long been engaged in teaching and research in the basic theories of TCM, with scholarship that emphasizes both textual organization and clinical integration. She collated the classical TCM text Zangfu Xingjian and served as editor-in-chief of the series Acupuncture and Moxibustion Clinical Practice: Ancient and Modern Perspectives, which is arranged in volumes on the heart, lungs, liver and spleen; on skin, flesh, sinews and bones; and on miscellaneous diseases. By setting ancient acupuncture literature alongside clinical diagnosis and treatment, the series reflects an editorial approach that values classical sources and syndrome-based point selection, and can serve TCM teaching, research and clinical reference. Publicly available information on her personal history and academic career is limited; her scholarly profile is chiefly reflected in the above collation and editorial works.
