Tong Yan, whose real name is Huang Meilin, is a Chinese woman born in November 1972 in Fuping County, Baoding, Hebei Province, and now lives in Baoding. She worked in business in her early years and kept writing in her spare time before turning to full-length novels. A preschool teacher by profession, she is a member of the Baoding Writers Association and the Baoding Prose Writers Association. Public information about her is limited. Her work consists mainly of quality time-travel and alternate-history fiction. Her representative work is the three-volume Fengchen Wangfei (The Fallen Princess) series, including Where Bustling Music Fades, Battles of Fragrance in the Deep Mansion, and A Lifetime of Fireworks for the World.
