Cheng Bu is a Chinese author known for writing on historical subjects; public information about him is limited, and his nationality, dates of birth and death, and educational background are not clearly recorded. Seven of his works are currently known, including the four-volume The First Emperor of Qin and the five-volume Cheng Bu's True History Series, as well as individual titles such as The True First Emperor of Qin: Benevolence Settles the Four Seas, The True Shang Yang: The Way to Success, The True Xiang Yu: Do Not Err Like This, The True Han Xin: Mindset Through Honor and Disgrace, and The True Li Si: Guaranteed Profit. Judging from the titles and common categories, his writing focuses on historical figures and events of the Qin and Han periods, falling under historical reading and biography, with traces of a category labeled otherworldly continent. His True History series reexamines figures such as the First Emperor of Qin, Shang Yang, Xiang Yu, Han Xin, and Li Si in a popular and argument-driven style, offering personal interpretations of existing historical sources and thus carrying a certain speculative and revisionist tone. Because available information is limited, his life details and the full scope of his work cannot be elaborated, and readers should consult the works themselves to understand his narrative style and view of history.
