Wang Chen, born in Beijing in 1981, writes under the pen name Tiandong and works as both a popular-science writer and a nature photographer. He holds a master's degree in botany from Beijing Normal University and serves as an editor at Bowu, a magazine published by Chinese National Geography. He has long been engaged in communicating knowledge about nature and science.
