Wang Lei

Wang Lei, who also writes under the pen name Hai Mian Jie Jie, holds a doctorate in literature and is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Elementary Education College of Capital Normal University, where she directs the Children's Literature Education Research Base; she is also a member of the Chinese Writers Association. She has long engaged in research on children's literature education, children's reading and leveled reading, and is chief expert for the Chinese leveled reading "Liu Yue" standard. Her creative works include the Little Bean Bridge Book series and The River God's Sweat, and she has received the Bing Xin Book Award. Her works in the library span law, politics, medicine, culture, education and language, covering such topics as legal documents from Dunhuang and the Western Regions, Athenian democracy and tyranny, nursing care for drug exudation and extravasation, the cultural construction of the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, picture-book reading education, women's media images and gender equality, and digital media and society, as well as a translation related to Hemingway's Across the River and into the Trees, reflecting an interdisciplinary scope in research and writing. Her writing balances scholarship and accessibility, with attention to turning specialized research into knowledge for the general public.
