About the author

Wang Wenlu's birthplace, dates of birth and death, and biographical details remain unverified, and publicly available information is limited. Judging from the three works held in the collection, his writing spans notes, miscellanies, and philosophical reflections: Longxing Ciji records anecdotes and historical tales, while Wenchang Lüyu and Jijing tend toward casual essays and observations on life and conduct. His subjects often move between historical lore and everyday philosophy, with concise language, plain narration, and little embellishment, echoing the informal style of traditional note literature. Classified under Eastern philosophy, social sciences, and classic works, these writings are chiefly read for their intellectual and cultural interest. Although direct records about Wang Wenlu himself are scarce, the surviving works offer useful texts for studying traditional note writing and the transmission of popular knowledge, with their influence lying mainly in the continuation of thematic interests and the essayistic note tradition.
