About the author

Wang Bing was a physician of the Tang dynasty, styled Qixuanzi (also written Qiyuanzi), who rose to the post of Taipu ling and was known as Wang Taipu. From the ninth year of Tianbao to the first year of Baoying, over a period of twelve years, he reorganized and annotated the Suwen, producing the twenty-four-volume, eighty-one-chapter Chongguang Buzhu Huangdi Neijing Suwen; he added seven major treatises and elaborated considerably on the doctrine of yunqi and on treatment based on pattern differentiation, creating a foundational text for later study of the Suwen. Beyond medicine, the library also holds works attributed to this name: Experimental Guide to Medicinal Botany, Combat (a textbook series for higher legal vocational education), Fundamentals of Management (3rd edition), and Basics of Cross-border E-commerce, touching on medicine, examinations, and management. Public information on his birth and death dates and detailed life is limited; the above is based on library records.
