About the author

Public information about Wang Yuanzhou is limited, and a systematic account of his identity and life has yet to be disclosed. Nevertheless, the four works collected here offer a general sense of his interests. His writing centers on East Asian history and culture, diplomatic missions, and social change in modern China. Representative works include "Shixinglu" and East Asian Historical and Cultural Studies (2 volumes), City: Living Space, Power Structure and Cultural Derivation, The Emperor's Guest: Emotion and Interest in Missionary Exchange, and Modern China: Regional Order and Social Change. Most of these titles fall under cultural, political, and historical reading. Spanning diplomatic missions, urban space, and regional order, they reflect a document-based approach that attends to both institutional and emotional dimensions, and will be of use to readers interested in East Asian exchange history and modern social transformation.
