Wang Dong

Wang Dong was born in Beijing in 1948 and is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Philosophy at Peking University. He received his doctorate in philosophy in 1985. His research centers on Leninist philosophy, the innovation of Marxist philosophy, and theories of China's modernization. His representative works include A New Foundation for Marxist Studies, On Chinese Civilization, and Deng Xiaoping Theory and China Across the Centuries. Among the nineteen works held in the library, he also addresses topics such as sociological research methods, the collation of classical texts, Silk Road civilization, and the history of the Dunhuang peoples, as seen in On Method: Local Practice and Refinement of Sociological Investigation, the fully annotated and translated edition of the Commentary on the Water Classic, The History of Silk Road Civilization in Ten Antiquities, and A History of the Dunhuang Peoples, reflecting a writing scope that spans philosophy, history, and culture.
