王世颖

Wang Shiying is a Chinese author whose works span otherworldly continents, time-travel and alternate-history settings, and folk literature. Publicly available information about her is limited, and no clear record of her birth year, native place, or educational background has been found. Judging from the twelve titles held in the collection, her writing is largely set against ancient or pseudo-historical backgrounds, and she is skilled at developing characters' fates across alternate histories and fantasy worlds. Dream of Splendor Remaining Records (Meng Hua Jin Yu Lu) was published in two volumes as well as a complete edition, and A Heart as Pure as Water (Chen Xin Si Shui) likewise appeared in separate volumes and a collected edition, suggesting that her long-form narratives have a fairly complete structure. Apricot Blossoms Like a Dream Become Plum Blossoms (Xing Hua Ru Meng Zuo Mei Hua) and the three-volume fantasy ancient-style romance attributed to her as a leading creator of the Xianjian series further reflect her tendency to blend fantasy with ancient-style romance. Her titles often carry a classical poetic flavor, and her categories combine otherworldly-continent and folk-literature elements, making her work suitable for readers who enjoy ancient-style, alternate-world, and emotional storytelling.
