Xiong Yi

Xiong Yi, born in 1973, is a contemporary Chinese writer on history and culture whose real name is not publicly known. He has long lived in seclusion and devoted himself to writing, focusing on Chinese intellectual history and the interpretation of classics. His work is distinguished by close reading of primary texts and careful analysis of ideas; he often probes the origins of concepts where history and philosophy meet, placing ancient texts back in their specific contexts and examining them anew in a calm, reflective style. His works number 17 in the Chinese book database, including Governing a Great State: The Dilemma of Justice in Ancient China, Wang Yangming: The Method of Mind, Free and Easy Wandering: When Zhuangzi Meets Reality, The Way That Can Be Spoken: Laozi's Essentials and Challenges, and The Beauty Few Have Seen, as well as several collected works. Classified mainly as history, philosophy, Eastern philosophy, and classics, these works make classical reading accessible to general readers. Beyond print books, he has also taught a cultural course on the Dedao App. Public information is limited, and little has been disclosed about the details of his life.
