潘丽珍

Pan Lizhen is a translator of foreign literature active in Chinese publishing, about whom public information is limited; her dates of birth and death, native place, and educational background are not clearly recorded. Judging from the six works held in the collection, her translation focuses on French literary classics: she has translated Les Misérables, Notre-Dame de Paris, and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Les Misérables appears in a complete three-volume edition, and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea has an illustrated collector's edition, reflecting her sustained engagement with long novels and illustrated publishing. Beyond fiction, she has also worked on urban culture, contributing to Reading Qingdao: A Map of Historic Buildings, which places her work across both foreign literature and architecture. Her translations serve general readers, emphasizing readability and the complete conveyance of plot, making works by Hugo, Verne, and others more accessible to Chinese readers.
