About the author

Tang Linchu is a name recorded in Chinese bibliographic sources, yet very little is known about his life: his nationality, dates of birth and death, and educational background are all undocumented, and the available public information is limited, making it difficult to sketch a complete biography. The only work by him in this collection is Shuzhi (Pointers on Writing). Judging from its usual classification under Eastern philosophy, the book leans toward traditional thought and scholarly discussion rather than literary creation or practical manuals. The title Shuzhi carries the sense of pointing out or expounding, suggesting that the author sought to organize and articulate a particular classic or theoretical question. As edition details and historical commentary remain to be examined, his writing style and influence cannot yet be discussed in depth; readers should consult the original text and watch for further bibliographical discoveries.
