栾殿武

Luan Dianwu — public information about this author is limited, and no clear record of his identity or career has been found. Judging from the seven works held in the library, he is mainly active in the translation and introduction of foreign literature, and is closely associated with the Japanese writer Ryu Murakami: he compiled or translated the first and second series of the Collected Works of Ryu Murakami (five volumes each), and introduced such novels as The War Begins Beyond the Sea, Coin Locker Babies, The Lost Story, and First Night, Second Night, Last Night to Chinese readers, along with The Zodiac Tales. These works often deal with youth, urban marginality, and memories of war; their style is cool and direct, with a strong critical edge. His translations are careful to preserve the rhythm and tone of the originals, offering Chinese readers a fairly systematic body of texts for understanding Ryu Murakami. The library also lists works under agriculture and forestry, though their exact nature remains to be verified.
