Brothers Grimm

The Brothers Grimm is the joint name of the German linguists and folklorists Jacob Grimm (1785–1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786–1859). From 1806 onward they collected and organized German folk tales and published Children's and Household Tales, commonly known as Grimms' Fairy Tales, preserving oral stories and bringing them to readers around the world. They also compiled German Grammar and the German Dictionary and are regarded as founders of Germanic linguistics. Drawing on folk sources, their tales are plain in language and vivid in plot, combining literary appeal with folklore value; they remain common reading in foreign literature and classic works.
