Henry Graham Greene

Henry Graham Greene (1904–1991) was a British novelist and playwright, born in Hertfordshire and educated at Oxford. He published his first novel, The Man Within, in 1929, and rose to fame with Stamboul Train in 1932; during the Second World War he served with British intelligence (MI6). His major works include Brighton Rock, The Power and the Glory, and The Heart of the Matter, and his writing often explores crises of faith and moral dilemmas in a somber yet humane tone. The library holds six of his works, all Japanese editions in the World Classic Fairy Tales series—Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, The Six Swans, The Frog Prince, The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids, and Rapunzel—showing the broad range of his writing and editing; these are commonly classified under world classics. He died in Switzerland in 1991.
