Liu Qing

Liu Qing (1916–1978), originally named Liu Yunhua, was a modern Chinese writer from Wubao, Shaanxi. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1936 and settled in Huangfu Village in Chang'an County, Shaanxi, in 1952, where he lived for fourteen years, sharing daily life and labor with local farmers. This experience rooted his writing in rural life; his language is plain, and he focused on how ordinary people's lives changed with the times. He wrote the novel The Builders (Chuangye Shi), as well as Zhong Gu Ji, Tong Qiang Tie Bi, and Hen Tou Tie. He is regarded as a people's writer who immersed himself in life and took root among the people. The library holds six of his works, covering foreign literature, fine fiction, world history, and popular science, including a bilingual Chinese-English edition of 1984, a dystopian trilogy, and Witnessing 100 Years of the World.
