About the author

Public information about Ke Ling is limited, and little can be confirmed about her life or academic background. Judging from the three works held in the collection, her writing centers on the field of folk culture. These include Chinese Folk Culture, prepared for general education in the Peking University series of general cultural readers, a second edition of the same book, and Folklore Talks from Oxford, England, which shows an interest in both Chinese native folklore and folk customs abroad. Her writing serves cultural popularization and teaching, organizing folkloric knowledge into readable and teachable material for students and general readers. Though the number of works is small, she has revised and extended the same subject, and the focus of her topics gives her work some reference value in spreading knowledge of folk culture. Her nationality, dates of birth and death, and English name remain to be verified.
