Lin Feng

Lin Feng was born in Shanghai in October 1943. A chess writer and national-level coach, he is regarded as one of the founders of chess theory in China. He won the Shanghai chess championship four times and served as director of the Chess Department of the Chinese Chess Academy and as vice chairman and secretary-general of the Chinese Chess Association. Lin Feng devoted himself to chess research and writing, authoring or compiling more than a hundred chess books, including Practical Chess Openings and Practical Chess Endgames, and has had a lasting influence on the popularization and theoretical development of the game. The collection also includes several of his works on social fiction, world history, medical examinations and nursing, showing that his writing interests extend beyond chess.
