杨铭

Yang Ming is an author about whom limited public information is available; details of his life, such as nationality, dates of birth and death, and educational background, have not been clearly recorded, so his writing focus can only be understood from the works held in the collection. There are seven works in total, mainly including the Veritable Records of the Zhengtong Campaign, the Veritable Records of the Zhengtong Northern Expedition, and Wang Yangming and a Draft History of Peace. In terms of subject matter, the first two deal with historical events of the Zhengtong period of the Ming dynasty and have the character of historical source compilation and narrative, while the latter turns to a discussion of Wang Yangming's thought and the issue of peace, showing an interest in both historical documents and Eastern philosophy. The common classifications place Yang Ming's works under Eastern philosophy, miscellaneous prose, classic works, and philosophical reading, indicating that beyond historical narrative his writing also has an intellectual and readable quality. Overall, Yang Ming is an author concerned with Ming history and Wang Yangming studies, and because public information is limited, the details of his life and the full range of his writing remain to be further verified.
