Yang Hongying

Yang Hongying, born in Chengdu, Sichuan, in 1962, is a contemporary Chinese children's author. She has worked as a primary school teacher and a children's book editor, and currently serves as vice chair of the Sichuan Writers Association. She began publishing fairy tales in 1984. Her writing grows out of close observation of children's everyday lives; her style is lively and accessible, with vivid plots, and she portrays the troubles and joys of growing up with warmth and humor. Her representative works include A Girl's Diary, A Boy's Diary, the Naughty Ma Xiaotiao series, and the Smiling Cat Diary series, and her books have been translated into several languages. This library holds eight of her titles, including fairy tales such as Finding the Mermaid and The Stray Dog and the Stray Cat, the socially themed Chengdu Beauty, and the Ma Xiaotiao financial literacy series for children, showing that her writing extends beyond children's literature into social fiction and management-related subjects.
