Yang Yiliu is a writer about whom limited public information is available. Only one work by this author can currently be identified: a young-adult novel titled Oath. Because basic details such as nationality, dates of birth and death, educational background, and writing career are not clearly recorded, little can be said about the author's personal life. Judging from the existing work, Yang Yiliu writes within the common category of young-adult literature, with themes centered on the emotions and commitments of youthful growth. The title Oath also suggests an interest in promises, keeping faith, and relationships. Young-adult literature usually focuses on the emotional experiences of younger readers, uses language close to everyday life, and emphasizes inner feelings and turning points in growing up; this work by Yang Yiliu belongs to that tradition. With only one work available, it is difficult to assess the overall direction of the author's style or literary influence, and readers can approach the narrative orientation and emotional tone only through this single novel, Oath.
