杜纲

Du Gang's biographical details are scarce, and public information is limited: his exact native place, dates of birth and death, and English name are not clearly recorded. According to the library's holdings, he has seventeen works, most of them classical historical romances. His representative works include Romance of the Southern Dynasties, Romance of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and several editions of the Romance of the Northern Dynasties series. His writing generally follows the tradition of the chapter-based historical romance, using the outline of official history as a framework to unfold the political changes and personal stories from the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the Sui and Tang periods. The language is accessible and the narrative coherent, balancing historical framework with fictional interest. Such works are often classified as classical literature and historical reading, suitable for readers who wish to learn about medieval Chinese history in a relatively relaxed way.
