Du Guangting was a Daoist scholar and man of letters active in the Shu region during the late Tang and Five Dynasties. Public sources offer limited information about his exact birth and death dates and early life. The library holds five of his works, including the tale "The Curly-Bearded Guest," the geographical record Dongtian Fudi Yuedu Mingshan Ji, and the miscellaneous collection Luyi Ji. "The Curly-Bearded Guest" uses a swordsman's story to express heroic feeling amid troubled times; its vivid characters and concise narrative had a lasting influence on later martial-arts literature. Dongtian Fudi Yuedu Mingshan Ji systematically surveys the Daoist sacred mountains and temples, offering both geographical and religious-historical value, while Luyi Ji collects folk marvels that reflect the beliefs and customs of the time. His writing spans narrative prose and Daoist documents, plain and well organized, and is commonly classified under literary appreciation, Eastern philosophy, and miscellaneous essays.
