About the author

Li Pin: available public information is limited, and details such as an English name, nationality, and dates of birth and death are not clearly recorded. Judging from the five works held in the collection, his writing spans classical literature and prose miscellany: he composed classical poems such as "Sent to Judge Fan," "Seeing Off Liu the Hermit Returning to Dongting," "Sent to My Own Prefecture First on the Way to Qianzhou," and "Visiting the Two Immortals Liu and Fan on Mount Siming," and also compiled A Collection of Letters by Dai Wenbao. His poems often concern correspondence, farewells, travel, and personal reflection, staying close to scholars' social exchanges and journeys, with concise language and restrained feeling characteristic of traditional literati writing. The letter collection reflects his attention to modern scholarly documents. Given the limited material, the full scope of his work and his literary influence remain to be further studied.
