Li Jie

Li Jie, born in Beijing in 1955 with ancestral roots in Pingyin, Shandong, is a historian long engaged in research on the history of the Communist Party of China, the history of the People's Republic of China, and Mao Zedong Thought. He has served as deputy director of the Central Literature Research Office and vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and is the author of works such as Reflections on National History, Mao Zedong's Historical Contribution to New China, and There Is a Mao Zedong in China, and has chief-edited several Party history documents and textbooks. Among the ten works held in the collection, his multi-volume Record of Mao Zedong traces Mao's life and the historical context of his era, combining archival organization with documentary narrative; another work on the application and maintenance of basic rail transit signal equipment shows that his interests extend beyond Party history and biographical research.
