Li Yang

Li Yang, born in 1951 in Huainan, Anhui Province, is a Chinese economist, a member of the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and chairman of the National Institution for Finance and Development; he previously served as vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His research focuses on finance, public finance and macroeconomics, and he has won the Sun Yefang Prize in Economic Science five times. Thirteen of his works are held in this collection, spanning finance and economics, foreign literature, biography and essays. They include titles closely tied to current financial issues, such as Deleveraging: High-Quality Development in Economic Transformation, China Bond Market (2025) and the China Special Assets Industry Development Report (2025), as well as a translation of Norse mythology and biographies of modern Chinese writers, among them Shen Congwen's Last Forty Years and Cao Yu: Thunderstorm Cleansing the Old World. His financial writing rests on professional research while addressing general readers, and his literary works reveal scholarly breadth and personal interest beyond his own field.
